RESUMO

We searched for antideuterons (d[over ¯]'s) in the 4.7×10^{9} cosmic-ray events observed during the BESS-Polar II flight at solar minimum in 2007-2008 but found no candidates. The resulting 95% C.L. upper limit on the d[over ¯] flux is 6.7×10^{-5} (m^{2} s sr GeV/n)^{-1} in an energy range from 0.163 to 1.100 GeV/n. The result has improved by more than a factor of 14 from the upper limit of BESS97, which had a potential comparable to that of BESS-Polar II in the search for cosmic-origin d[over ¯]'s and was conducted during the former solar minimum. The upper limit of d[over ¯] flux from BESS-Polar II is the first result achieving the sensitivity to constrain the latest theoretical predictions.

Background: The neurodegenerative processes leading to glaucoma are complex. In addition to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), an involvement of immunological mechanisms is most likely. In the new multifactorial glaucoma model, a combination of high IOP and optic nerve antigen (ONA) immunization leads to an enhanced loss of retinal ganglion cells accompanied by a higher number of microglia/macrophages in the inner retina. Here, we aimed to evaluate the immune response in this new model, especially the complement activation and the number of T-cells, for the first time. Further, the microglia/macrophage response was examined in more detail. Methods: Six-week-old wildtype (WT+ONA) and ßB1-connective tissue growth factor high-pressure mice (CTGF+ONA) were immunized with 1 mg ONA. A wildtype control (WT) and a CTGF group (CTGF) received NaCl instead. Six weeks after immunization, retinae from all four groups were processed for immunohistology, RT-qPCR, and flow cytometry, while serum was used for microarray analyses. Results: We noticed elevated numbers of C1q+ cells (classical complement pathway) in CTGF and CTGF+ONA retinae as well as an upregulation of C1qa, C1qb, and C1qc mRNA levels in these groups. While the complement C3 was only increased in CTGF and CTGF+ONA retinae, enhanced numbers of the terminal membrane attack complex were noted in all three glaucoma groups. Flow cytometry and RT-qPCR analyses revealed an enhancement of different microglia/macrophages markers, including CD11b, especially in CTGF and CTGF+ONA retinae. Interestingly, increased retinal mRNA as well as serum levels of the tumor necrosis factor α were found throughout the different glaucoma groups. Lastly, more T-cells could be observed in the ganglion cell layer of the new CTGF+ONA model. Conclusion: These results emphasize an involvement of the complement system, microglia/macrophages, and T-cells in glaucomatous disease. Moreover, in the new multifactorial glaucoma model, increased IOP in combination with autoimmune processes seem to enforce an additional T-cell response, leading to a more persistent pathology. Hence, this new model mimics the pathomechanisms occurring in human glaucoma more accurately and could therefore be a helpful tool to find new therapeutic approaches for patients in the future.

BACKGROUND: The presence of psychospiritual supports and interventions for neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) parents is unclear. PURPOSE: This systematic review examines the psychological and medical literature for psychospiritual interventions designed to support parents' mental health and psychological well-being during or after the NICU experience. DATA SOURCES: Data sources include PubMed, PsycINFO, and Cochrane Library (Cochrane Database of Systemic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) with peer-reviewed studies published between 2013 and 2023. STUDY SELECTION: Peer-reviewed studies that included spiritual and psychological intervention components focused on supporting parents during or after the NICU were included for this systematic review. There were 42 records located in 3 databases ultimately yielding 4 peer-reviewed studies that met inclusion criteria. Articles must have been written in English and evaluate parents'/caregivers' mental health/psychological well-being in relation to a psychospiritual intervention. DATA EXTRACTION: Because of the small number of studies, article summaries are provided within the results section and were written by the first author with approval by the second and third authors. RESULTS: Results indicated that when psychological (focus on coping) and spiritual components were included psychological and well-being outcomes were better for NICU parents. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE AND RESEARCH: The inclusion of psychological and spiritual aspects of coping and supportive care is necessary for the best family-centered NICU care. More work needs to be done to develop psychospiritual supports and include fathers in these endeavors as most work occurs with mothers. Nurses need support and training to facilitate family-centered care with a focus on parents' psychospiritual needs.

Overweight and obesity is one of the most significant health and welfare issues affecting companion animals and are linked to several serious medical conditions, reduced welfare, and shortened lifespan. The number of overweight and obese pets increases every year. Overweight and obesity are associated with multiple chronic diseases. Underlying causes include human-related and animal-related factors. Veterinarians encounter overweight and obese canine patients in daily practice and they play an important role in weight management. This research examines the level of veterinary engagement and the success of veterinary management plans for overweight and obese canines over a five-year period. Electronic medical records (EMRs) were collected for 500 canine patients assessed as either overweight or obese and statistically analyzed for level of veterinary engagement (VE), weight loss success, prescription weight loss diet (RX) use, and comorbidities. The average age at the beginning of the study was 61.5 months. A starting Body Condition Score (BCS) of 6 or 7 was most common (87.2%). Twelve different small and large dog breeds were most highly represented (61.1%). Average weight loss rates were low and more dogs gained rather than lost weight (56.5% vs. 43.5%). While VE is important, this study suggests current VE levels are not adequate to successfully combat overweight and obesity or result in improved animal welfare.

BACKGROUND: Menopause, a dramatical estrogen-deficient condition, is considered the most significant milestone in women's health. PURPOSE: To investigate the metabolite changes attributed to estrogen deficiency using random forest (RF)-based machine learning (ML) modeling strategy in ovariectomized (OVX) mice as well as determine the clinical relevance of selected metabolites in older women. METHODS AND RESULTS: Untargeted and targeted metabolomic analyses revealed that metabolites related to TCA cycle, sphingolipids, phospholipids, fatty acids, and amino acids, were significantly changed in the plasma and/or muscle of OVX mice. Subsequent ML classifiers based on RF algorithm selected alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG), arginine, carnosine, ceramide C24, phosphatidylcholine (PC) aa C36:6, and PC ae C42:3 in plasma as well as PC aa 34:1, PC aa C34:3, PC aa C36:5, PC aa C32:1, PC aa C36:2, and sphingosine in muscle as top featured metabolites that differentiate the OVX mice from the sham-operated group. When circulating levels of AKG, arginine, and carnosine, which showed the most significant changes in OVX mice blood, were measured in postmenopausal women, higher plasma AKG levels were associated with lower bone mass, weak grip strength, poor physical performance, and increased frailty risk. CONCLUSIONS: Metabolomics- and ML-based methods identified the key metabolites of blood and muscle that were significantly changed after ovariectomy in mice, and the clinical implication of several metabolites was investigated by looking at their correlation with body composition and frailty-related parameters in postmenopausal women. These findings provide crucial context for understanding the diverse physiological alterations caused by estrogen deficiency in women.

BACKGROUND: Irregular menstruation is a major health problem among women, although its association with nightshift work remains controversial. AIMS: To study the association between nightshift work and irregular menstrual cycle among female workers and investigate any differences according to sleep quality, working hours or obesity. METHODS: This study included female workers who underwent health examinations from 2012 to 2019. Nightshift work, working hours, sleep quality and menstrual cycles were assessed using self-administered questionnaires. Irregular menstrual cycle was defined as self-reported irregular or ≥36 days. Adjusted odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated by multivariable logistic regression; adjusted hazard ratios (95% CIs) for incident irregular menstrual cycle were calculated by Cox proportional hazard models with time-dependent analysis. RESULTS: The study participants were 87 147 in the cross-sectional study and 41 516 in the longitudinal study. After adjusting for all covariates in the cross-sectional analyses, the odds ratio for prevalent irregular menstrual cycle among female nightshift workers versus the reference was 1.26 (95% CI 1.2-1.33). In the cohort study, the adjusted hazard ratio for incident irregular menstrual cycle among nightshift workers was 1.95 (95% CI 1.61-2.35) in the period after 6 years. No significant differences were observed among subgroups stratified by sleep quality, working hours or obesity. CONCLUSIONS: Nightshift work is associated with an increased risk of both prevalent and incident irregular menstrual cycle in female workers without significant interactions by sleep quality, working hours or obesity.

AIMS: The aim was to analyse the use and safety of bisphosphonate treatment for metabolic bone complications in paediatric cancer patients. METHODS: We retrospectively describe our experience with bisphosphonate treatment in 25 childhood cancer patients (aged <18 years) in a single tertiary hospital between 1999 and 2020. RESULTS: The most common primary diagnosis was acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (n = 16) and Hodgkin lymphoma (n = 3). Eleven patients (44%) had received allogeneic stem cell transplantation and two patients autologous stem cell transplantation. Sixteen patients (64%) had been treated with radiotherapy, either total-body (n = 11) or local (n = 5). The main indication for bisphosphonates was osteoporosis with vertebral compression fractures in 13/25, osteonecrosis in 6/25 and hypercalcaemia in 2/25. The bisphosphonate treatment was started on average 13 (range 0-76) months after the diagnosis of the bone complication. Bisphosphonate treatment lasted between weeks (hypercalcaemia) to 5 years (severe osteoporosis). Mild, non-symptomatic hypophosphatemia (n = 8), hypocalcaemia (n = 6) and moderate, transient pain (n = 6) were the most common adverse effects. No severe side effects were observed even when bisphosphonates were administered concomitantly with chemotherapy. Bone mineral density significantly improved with the bisphosphonate treatment (mean lumbar spine Z-score -1.17 vs. -0.07, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Bisphosphonate treatment was well tolerated in this paediatric patient cohort.

BACKGROUND: Chemosensory dysfunction has been reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Compared with olfaction, gustatory dysfunction in AD has not been evaluated in depth. We reviewed previously published studies regarding gustatory dysfunction in patients with AD compared with healthy controls. METHODS: A systematic review was conducted by searching the MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Embase, and PubMed databases covering publications from January 2000 to February 2023. The search was performed using the keyword "Alzheimer* AND (gustatory OR taste OR gustation)." Only studies that performed gustatory function testing and compared the results between patients with AD and healthy controls were included. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed. RESULTS: Twelve articles were finally included, and various gustatory tests including taste strips, the taste disk test, taste solutions, and subjective questionnaires were applied. Overall gustatory function based on the taste strip test was significantly decreased in patients with AD compared with controls in two out of three papers. The overall gustatory function of patients with AD was significantly decreased in all studies based on the taste disk and taste solution tests. We also found that the sweet taste test showed low heterogeneity across all the included studies, and there was low publication bias. In studies using subjective questionnaires, gustatory function was not significantly different between patients with AD and healthy controls in the meta-analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Based on these studies, gustatory dysfunction diagnosed by gustatory function testing was closely related to AD. However, the results of subjective questionnaires were not significantly different between patients with AD and healthy controls in the current meta-analysis. As the number of studies and enrolled subjects was limited and unified gustatory function testing was lacking, further studies are needed to confirm this relationship.

BACKGROUND: Rapid gastric emptying is associated with obesity and overeating, whereas delayed gastric emptying is associated with anorexia. Acute effects of exercise on gastric emptying have been investigated extensively, but the influence of habitual physical activity on gastric emptying and transit time in other regions of the gastrointestinal tract is poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: The objective was to investigate associations between objectively measured habitual physical activity and gastrointestinal transit times in adults with varying degrees of adiposity. METHODS: 50 adults (58% women) were included in this cross-sectional study. Physical activity was measured by an accelerometer placed on the lower back for 7 d. Gastric emptying time, small bowel transit time, colonic transit time, and whole gut transit time were simultaneously evaluated by a wireless motility capsule, which was ingested together with a standardized mixed meal. Linear regression models were applied to assess the associations of total activity counts and time spent at different intensities-sedentary activity (0-100 counts/min), low light activity (101-759 counts/min), high light activity (760-1951 counts/min); moderate and vigorous activity (≥1952 counts/min)) with gastrointestinal transit times. RESULTS: Median [Q1; Q3] age was 56.5 [46.6-65.5] y, and body mass index (BMI) was 32.1 [28.5-35.1] kg/m2. For every additional hour spent performing high light intensity physical activity, colonic transit time was 25.5 % [95% CI: 3.10, 42.7] more rapid (P = 0.028), and whole gut transit time was 16.2 % [95% CI: 1.84, 28.4] more rapid (P = 0.028) when adjusted for sex, age, and body fat. No other associations were observed. CONCLUSIONS: More time spent on physical activity at high light intensity was associated with more rapid colonic and whole gut transit time, independent of age, sex, and body fat, whereas other intensities of physical activity and gastrointestinal transit times were not associated. OBJECTIVE: To assess the impact of concomitant metformin use on gastrointestinal adverse events during the initiation and titration of a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Using data from four clinical trials of liraglutide and semaglutide (Liraglutide Effect and Action in Diabetes: Evaluation of Cardiovascular Outcome Results [LEADER], Semaglutide Treatment Effect in People with Obesity [STEP 2], Trial to Evaluate Cardiovascular and Other Long-Term Outcomes With Semaglutide in Subjects With Type 2 Diabetes [SUSTAIN-6], and Peptide Innovation for Early Diabetes Treatment [PIONEER] 6), we compared the incidence of gastrointestinal adverse events during GLP-1RA initiation and titration in participants with and without concomitant metformin use. RESULTS: Of 16,996 participants, 12,928 (76%) were treated with metformin. Concomitant metformin use did not increase the percentage of participants who developed gastrointestinal adverse events or their severity during the observation window. Among participants experiencing gastrointestinal adverse events, metformin use did not increase study product discontinuation. Within treatment arms (GLP-1RA and placebo), a numerically higher percentage of metformin nonusers experienced gastrointestinal adverse events and discontinued the study product compared with metformin users. CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant metformin use does not increase occurrence of gastrointestinal symptoms during GLP-1RA initiation or impact GLP-1RA discontinuation.

OBJECTIVES: Neurodegeneration is considered a relevant pathophysiologic feature in neurologic disorders associated with antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65). In this study, we investigate surrogates of neuroaxonal damage in relation to disease duration and clinical presentation. METHODS: In a multicentric cohort of 50 patients, we measured serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) in relation to disease duration and disease phenotypes, applied automated MRI volumetry, and analyzed clinical characteristics. RESULTS: In patients with neurologic disorders associated with GAD65 antibodies, we detected elevated sNfL levels early in the disease course. By contrast, this elevation of sNfL levels was less pronounced in patients with long-standing disease. Increased sNfL levels were observed in patients presenting with cerebellar ataxia and limbic encephalitis, but not in those with stiff person syndrome. Using MRI volumetry, we identified atrophy predominantly of the cerebellar cortex, cerebellar superior posterior lobe, and cerebral cortex with similar atrophy patterns throughout all clinical phenotypes. DISCUSSION: Together, our data provide evidence for early neuroaxonal damage and support the need for timely therapeutic interventions in GAD65 antibody-associated neurologic disorders.

Pulmonary vascular impedance (PVZ) describes RV afterload in the frequency domain and has not been studied extensively in LVAD patients. We sought to determine (1) feasibility of calculating a composite (c)PVZ using standard of care (SoC), asynchronous, pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) and flow (PAQ) waveforms; and (2) if chronic right ventricular failure (RVF) post-LVAD implant was associated with changes in perioperative cPVZ.PAP and PAQ were obtained via SoC procedures at three landmarks: T(1), Retrospectively, pre-operative with patient conscious; and T(2) and T(3), prospectively with patient anesthetized, and either pre-sternotomy or chest open with LVAD, respectively. Additional PAP's were taken at T(4), following chest closure; and T(5), 4-24 h post chest closure. Harmonics (z) were calculated by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with cPVZ(z) = FFT(PAP)/FFT(PAQ). Total pulmonary resistance Z(0); characteristic impedance Zc, mean of cPVZ(2-4); and vascular stiffness PVS, sum of cPVZ(1,2), were compared at T(1,2,3) between +/-RVF groups.Out of 51 patients, nine experienced RVF. Standard hemodynamics and changes in cPVZ-derived parameters were not significant between groups at any T.In conclusion, cPVZ calculated from SoC measures is possible. Although data that could be obtained were limited it suggests no difference in RV afterload for RVF patients post-implant. If confirmed in larger studies, focus should be placed on cardiac function in these subjects.

In this paper, a method is proposed to enable real-time monitoring of muscle forces during robotic rehabilitation therapy in the ICU. This method is solely based on sensor information provided by the rehabilitation robot. In current clinical practice, monitoring primarily takes place in the later stages of rehabilitation, but it would also be highly beneficial during early stages. Musculoskeletal models have large, mostly unrealized potential to support and improve patient monitoring. The method presented in this paper is based on a state-of-the-art muscle-tendon path model, which is applied to the use case of the robotic rehabilitation device VEMOTION. The muscle force estimation is validated against surface electromyography measurements of lower limb muscles from 12 healthy volunteers The results show an overall correlation of R = 0.70 0.25 for the single-joint muscle m. iliopsoas, which has a ±major contribution to hip flexion. Given this correlation, the proposed model could be used for real-time monitoring of active patient participation.

We search for energetic electron recoil signals induced by boosted dark matter (BDM) from the galactic center using the COSINE-100 array of NaI(Tl) crystal detectors at the Yangyang Underground Laboratory. The signal would be an excess of events with energies above 4 MeV over the well-understood background. Because no excess of events are observed in a 97.7 kg·yr exposure, we set limits on BDM interactions under a variety of hypotheses. Notably, we explored the dark photon parameter space, leading to competitive limits compared to direct dark photon search experiments, particularly for dark photon masses below 4 MeV and considering the invisible decay mode. Furthermore, by comparing our results with a previous BDM search conducted by the Super-Kamionkande experiment, we found that the COSINE-100 detector has advantages in searching for low-mass dark matter. This analysis demonstrates the potential of the COSINE-100 detector to search for MeV electron recoil signals produced by the dark sector particle interactions.

Introduction: Sudden cardiac arrest is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and remains a major public health problem for which better non-invasive prediction tools are needed. Primary preventive therapies, such as implantable cardioverter defibrillators, are not personalized and not predictive. Most of these devices do not deliver life-saving therapy during their lifetime. The individual relationship between fatal arrhythmias and cardiac function abnormalities in predicting cardiac death risk has rarely been explored. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the measurements at rest for 191 patients with acute chest pain (ACP) magnetocardiographically. Our recently introduced analyses are able to detect inhomogeneities of the depolarization and repolarization. Moreover, electrically silent phenomena-intracellular ionic currents as well as vortex currents-can be measured and quantified. All included ACP patients were recruited in 2009 at Yonsei University Hospital and were followed up until 2022. Results: During half of the follow-up period (6.5 years), 11 patients died. Out of all the included nine clinical, eight magnetocardiographical, and nine newly introduced magnetoionographical parameters we tested in this study, three parameters revealed themselves to be outstanding at predicting death: heart rate-corrected QT (QTc) prolongation, depression of repolarization current IKr + IKs, and serum creatinine (all significant in Cox regression, p < 0.05). They clearly predicted cardiac death over the 6.5 years duration (sensitivity 90.9%, specificity 85.6%, negative predictive accuracy 99.4%). Cardiac death risk was more than ninefold higher in patients with low repolarization reserve and QTc prolongation in comparison with the remaining patients with ACP (p < 0.001). The non-parametric Kaplan-Meier statistics estimated significantly lower survival functions from their lifetime data (p < 0.001). Discussion: To the best of our knowledge, these are the first data linking magnetocardiographical and magnetoionographical parameters and subsequent significant fatal events in people, suggesting structural and functional components to clinical life-threatening ventricular arrhythmogenesis. The findings support investigation of new prevention strategies and herald those new non-invasive techniques as complementary risk stratification tools.

The paper presents a solution to detect active ankle joint movement while a patient undergoes therapy with a robotic lower limb rehabilitation device that neither restricts nor actively supports ankle dorsi- or plantarflexion. The presented method requires the addition of only two accelerometer sensors to the system as well as a musculoskeletal model of the lower limb. Using forward kinematics and inverse dynamics, it enables knee and ankle joint kinematic tracking in the sagittal plane and muscle force estimation. This is an extension of a previous work in which only hip joint tracking was possible and, thus, muscle force estimation was limited. The correlation results of the current validation study with 12 healthy subjects show high correlation (R=0.88±0.09) between the kinematics estimated with the proposed method and those calculated from a gold standard motion capture setup for all three joints (hip, knee, and ankle). The correlation results of the estimated m. tibialis anterior muscle force against electromyography measurements (R = 0.62±0.27) are promising and a first application to a patient data set shows potential for future clinical application.

Crop plants and undomesticated resilient species employ different strategies to regulate their energy resources and growth. Most crop species are sensitive to stress and prioritise rapid growth to maximise yield or biomass production. In contrast, resilient plants grow slowly, are small, and allocate their resources for survival in challenging environments. One small group of plants, termed resurrection plants, survive desiccation of their vegetative tissue and regain full metabolic activity upon watering. However, the precise molecular mechanisms underlying this extreme tolerance remain unknown. In this study, we employed a transcriptomics and metabolomics approach, to investigate the mechanisms of desiccation tolerance in Tripogon loliiformis, a modified desiccation-tolerant plant, that survives gradual but not rapid drying. We show that T. loliiformis can survive rapid desiccation if it is gradually dried to 60% relative water content (RWC). Furthermore, the gene expression data showed that T. loliiformis is genetically predisposed for desiccation in the hydrated state, as evidenced by the accumulation of MYB, NAC, bZIP, WRKY transcription factors along with the phytohormones, abscisic acid, salicylic acid, amino acids (e.g., proline) and TCA cycle sugars during initial drying. Through network analysis of co-expressed genes, we observed differential responses to desiccation between T. loliiformis shoots and roots. Dehydrating shoots displayed global transcriptional changes across broad functional categories, although no enrichment was observed during drying. In contrast, dehydrating roots showed distinct network changes with the most significant differences occurring at 40% RWC. The cumulative effects of the early stress responses may indicate the minimum requirements of desiccation tolerance and enable T. loliiformis to survive rapid drying. These findings potentially hold promise for identifying biotechnological solutions aimed at developing drought-tolerant crops without growth and yield penalties.

Climate change is globally affecting rainfall patterns, necessitating the improvement of drought tolerance in crops. Sorghum bicolor is a relatively drought-tolerant cereal. Functional stay-green sorghum genotypes can maintain green leaf area and efficient grain filling during terminal post-flowering water deprivation, a period of ~10 weeks. To obtain molecular insights into these characteristics, two drought-tolerant genotypes, BTx642 and RTx430, were grown in replicated control and terminal post-flowering drought field plots in California's Central Valley. Photosynthetic, photoprotective, and water dynamics traits were quantified and correlated with metabolomic data collected from leaves, stems, and roots at multiple timepoints during control and drought conditions. Physiological and metabolomic data were then compared to longitudinal RNA sequencing data collected from these two genotypes. The unique metabolic and transcriptomic response to post-flowering drought in sorghum supports a role for the metabolite galactinol in controlling photosynthetic activity through regulating stomatal closure in post-flowering drought. Additionally, in the functional stay-green genotype BTx642, photoprotective responses were specifically induced in post-flowering drought, supporting a role for photoprotection in the molecular response associated with the functional stay-green trait. From these insights, new pathways are identified that can be targeted to maximize yields under growth conditions with limited water.

While rehabilitation robots present a much-needed solution to improving early mobilization therapy in demanding clinical settings, they also present new challenges and opportunities in patient monitoring. Aside from the fundamental challenge of quantifying a patient's voluntary contribution during robot-led therapy motion, many sensors cannot be used in clinical settings due to time and space limitations. In this paper, we present and compare two metrics for monitoring a patient's active participation in the motion. The two metrics, each derived from first principles, have the same biomechanical interpretability, i.e., active work by the patient during the robotic mobilization therapy, but are calculated in two different spaces (Cartesian vs. muscle space). Furthermore, the sensors used to quantify these two metrics are fully independent from each other and the associated measurements are unrelated. Specifically, the robot-based work metric utilizes robot-integrated force sensors, while the EMG-based work metric requires electrophysiological sensors. We then apply the two metrics to therapy performed using a clinically certified, commercially available robotic system and compare them against the specific instructions given to the healthy subjects as well as against each other. Both metric outputs qualitatively match the expected behavior of the healthy subjects. Additionally, strong correlations (median [Formula: see text]) are shown between the two metrics, not only for healthy subjects (n = 12) but also for patients (n = 2), providing solid evidence for their validity and translatability. Importantly, the robot-based work metric does not rely on any sensors outside of those integrated into the robot, thus making it ideal for application in clinical settings.
